Why did you choose McGill?
The McGill MBA Japan program offers a unique combination of community, flexibility, and scholarship that is unmatched by other Japanese full-time programs. The face-to-face classroom environment and the ability to maintain full-time employment while learning from the esteemed professors of a world-renowned university made it an easy decision.

What do you hope to get out of a McGill MBA?
The program will allow me to learn how to analyze problems as a business leader while continuing my work at the center of the American business community in Japan. Through the program, I hope to learn the quantitative, analytical, managerial, and leadership skills necessary to navigate the international business landscape.

What’s been memorable so far?
From the very first day, the diversity and inclusion of the class have been impressive. Everyone has different backgrounds and experiences, but everyone is eager to listen to and learn from each other not only to create an optimal academic experience but also to create lasting relationships.

Why did you choose McGill?
I chose McGill because it is a top school in Canada and also the world. The MBA Japan program offers classes on weekends, which is perfect as it allows me to pursue my career and study at the same time. No school of this stature offers such a program in Japan. Another reason I choose McGill is that I have a personal connection to McGill. Both of my younger sisters are current McGill students back in Montreal, so you can say it runs in the family!

What do you hope to get out of a McGill MBA?
Coming from a geoscience and East Asian studies undergraduate background, I had no prior understanding of how business worked before this program. I am counting on the McGill MBA to educate me and ground me in the business basics. Three months into the program, I am already reaping the benefits of this newfound knowledge in my day-to-day work.

What’s been memorable so far?
This might sound cliché, but everything! Not only is every class interesting, but you have a close-knit relationship with the professors thanks to the small class sizes. The time you spend with your classmates is truly memorable. Nearly every lesson is filled with laughter and joking as we learn. It makes spending your precious weekends in class worth it. I have no doubt my classmates will become lifelong friends!

Why did you choose McGill?
After working for more than a decade in automotive engineering, I wanted to apply for an MBA to expand my career opportunities. I was particularly interested in the international recognition of the degree, the diversity in gender and careers for applicants, and the quality of teaching for my field. In addition to being the best program in Japan in regards of these requirements, the McGill MBA Japan’s location and organization were an excellent fit to full-time workers like me, so the choice was quite straightforward.

What’s been memorable so far?
The whole program is very enjoyable, and there were actually many memorable moments that created strong bonds among our classmates. If I had to select just one, it would be the week-long study trip in Montreal, where we met with executives of various companies, learned about business in North America, and enjoyed student life again! It was an inspiring and unforgettable experience that really brings a unique value to the McGill MBA Japan program.

Why did you choose McGill?
I chose the McGill MBA Japan program to acquire business frameworks and skills with people from diverse nationalities and professionals while being in Japan. The program is known for its high standards and its classes that offer both practical and academic training.

The weekend intensive program is taught by faculty from Montreal and has helped me develop fundamental knowledge, analytical frameworks, and business insights. Highly motivated classmates who come from a variety of business fields have shared inspiring ideas with me. Their diversity and proactive mindfulness have contributed significantly to our class discussions and projects. The program also offers various learning opportunities for students, and one of them is the autonomous study trip to an emerging country. This summer, we’ll be joining the Vietnam study trip and learning about business practices in this emerging market.

What do you hope to get out of a McGill MBA?
I hope to gain the agility and confidence that I need to transform my future career after this two-year program. As the pharmaceutical industry will continue to change, having new strategic and analytical business frameworks will be highly valuable to me.

I hope that all future students will enjoy their new challenges as they pursue personal and career opportunities together at McGill!
