The McGill Alumni Association in Japan–MAAJ–and McGill MBA Japan Program, in cooperation with the Canadian Embassy in Tokyo held a hugely successful McGill Japan Forum and Shinnenkai on Friday, January 17th, 2014.
McGill Japan Forum, which took place at the Oscar Peterson Theatre, was moderated by Laura Younger (MBA 2009). This included a truly outstanding panel of CEOs and business leaders of major global corporations operating in Japan. The panelists also included three Canadians and one honorary Canadian.
Speaking on Success: Taking it to the next level were: Alison Birch – Managing Director, Head of Human Resources and Chief of Staff, JPMorgan in Japan, Sarah Casanova – President and CEO, Representative Director, McDonald’s Company (Japan) Ltd., Itzhak Krinsky, Ph.D – Chairman, Teva Japan, Ltd., Chairman, Teva South Korea and Head of Business Development Asia Pacific, and Monika Merz – President, Toys “R” Us, Asia Pacific
This informative and inspiring panel discussion was wrapped up with a Question and Answer session, and an extended round of applause. Congratulations to everyone involved in making this the best McGill Japan Forum so far.
Immediately following was the McGill Shinnenkai on the 4th Floor of the Canadian Embassy. Mr Martial Page (BA 1981), Deputy Head of Mission gave the opening remarks and performed the Kampai. This was followed by an evening of networking and revelry for McGill Students, Alumni, Friends of McGill and other guests from the wider community.
All in all, this was the largest McGill-related event ever in Japan, and one of the biggest McGill Alumni organised events anywhere in the world.
What a great way to bring in 2014, the year of the Horse.
Keep your eyes out for more McGill events in 2014.
