Lunchtime Speaker Series, Roundup:
We were fortunate over the past few months to host a number of very interesting Lunchtime Speaker events with the McGill MBA Japan Program. Here is a brief roundup:
Dr Makoto Sugita, MBA Japan Class of 2009, Vice-President, Medical Affairs Division, Janssen Pharma, K.K. Saturday, August 2nd, 2014.
Dr. Makoto Sugita, and his colleagues offered a number of important insights into the situation within the pharmaceutical industry, and in particular the role of Janssen Pharma within the Johnson and Johnson family of companies. Their presentation was followed by a lively question and answer session. A large number of McGill MBA Japan students are involved in the medical device and pharmaceutical industry, which made this a particularly interesting topic.
After a career as a thoracic surgeon, Makoto Sugita, MD, PhD, moved to into the pharmaceutical industry, where he has taken a leadership role at Janssen Pharma. Thank you to one of McGill University’s most outstanding alumni for speaking with us. Makoto is a member of the McGill MBA Japan Advisory Board.

Saturday, August 30th, 2014.
We were pleased and honoured to welcome back Dr Greg Story, a long-time friend of the McGill MBA Japan program, who offered Dale Carnegie’s timeless advice Igniting Workplace Enthusiasm. One of the main lessons being: start with heartfelt praise. Greg has been a guest speaker with the McGill MBA Japan students starting in 2007, and gave the Graduation Speech to the Class of 2009.
For more than a century, Dale Carnegie’s books have continued to be best sellers in the field of human relations and people management, and we were very fortunate to receive this introduction directly from the source.
Mr Mikihiro Yasuda, (MBA Japan Class of 2010), Partner, DeNA Strategic Investments, San Francisco, CA.
Miki Yasuda, one of the McGill MBA Japan program’s many successful entrepreneurs, gave our students and guests a revealing presentation on the investment cycle of the venture capital industry in Silicon Valley. Miki has been at the head of a number of investments by DeNA, one of Japan’s largest web-based firms. Miki Yasuda was previously CIO of kakaku.com and a board member at Digital Garage.
