Yasumasa Takenouchi, Class of 2016

Why did you choose the McGill MBA Japan Program?

Before taking on the challenge of working overseas, I needed to gain business knowledge—especially in the areas of finance, strategy, and organizational behavior—at a global standard.

The McGill MBA Japan Program’s weekend course was perfect for me since I could learn from competent professors visiting from Montreal,
and I did not have to interrupt my career path to do so. Also, I felt that
I could widen my perspective by taking an MBA with classmates from a variety of countries and with diverse business backgrounds.

Since starting your MBA program, have you had an opportunity to apply what you learned at work?

I apply much of the knowledge and experience from the MBA program to my work—indeed, this is one of the great advantages of the weekend MBA. As I’m in the finance division, I need to develop knowledge of finance, strategy, marketing, and organizational behavior.

When I took on a mergers and acquisitions project during my second year at work, the knowledge I learned in the MBA program helped me a lot with the finance side as well as knowing how to analyze companies.
