Press Release– McGill University officially designated a “location in Japan of a foreign university” by MEXT Tue, 28 Apr 2015 06:53:30 +0000 – Press Release –

April 28th, 2015

McGill University officially designated a “location in Japan of a foreign university” by MEXT.

Providing both Japanese and international MBA students with the benefits of studying in Tokyo

As of March 31, 2015, McGill University was officially designated as a “location in Japan of a foreign university” by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) in Japan under the category of ‘Campuses in Japan that are formally recognised as educational institutions offering graduate school curricula’.

This designation opens the way for students of the McGill MBA Japan program to transfer their credits if they wish to study at another domestic graduate college, and apply for scholarships offered by the Ministry. It may also allow international students to acquire Japanese students’ visa.

Currently, just four foreign universities, including McGill University, are officially approved as a designated location in this category, of which only two offer MBA programs.

Desautels Faculty of Management of McGill University’s MBA program is highly recognized. Accredited by The EFMD Quality Improvement System (EQUIS,) the program was ranked the first in Canada, the second in North America, and the sixth in the world in 2013 Eduniversal. In addition, in the latest QS World University Ranking (annual university rankings published by British Quacquarelli Symonds,) McGill University is ranked twenty-first.

This international recognition provides an added benefit for McGill MBA graduates. “Recently, more Japanese managers are entering the global job market. In this environment, an MBA from a highly-ranked university will open up new opportunities,” says Philip O’Neill, Director of the McGill MBA Japan program in Tokyo. “It’s a part of our mission to support our MBA students by giving them a top quality education.”
